Micron to Become World’s No 2 DRAM Manufacturer

Micron Technology has agreed to buy the bankruptcy  Japanese chipmaker Elpida in a deal worth 200bn yen ($2.5bn; £1.6bn). Micron Confirms Negotiations With Elpida

In an announcement on Micron’s website made on May 10 the company confirmed negotiations with Elpida’s trustees to acquire Elpida’s entire business. Elpida, a semiconductor DRAM memory manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 27, 2012.
